Aim:
To deliver family friendly funfairs in a safe environment, where the weather wouldn’t be a factor.
Challenge:
These events had to deliver high-quality entertainment while maintaining an affordable ticket price for families. It was essential to find venues that were large enough to hold tall rides, while being within reach of large populations and offering safe, clean and friendly facilities.
The indoor funfairs had to be different at each venue, providing different rides and activities for a limited amount of people – all while complying with Covid-related health and safety regulations.
Solution:
The Indoor Funfairs team understood how important it was to provide a family-orientated event in a safe environment for customers. We carried out research and identified the key elements that families were hoping to find at a funfair, and which were not currently provided elsewhere.
We collaborated closely with a number of venues to find out what could be achieved at key times of the year during school holidays, when demand would be highest. We put review processes in place to ensure that issues could be addressed and improvements made, so that these funfairs would become a regular highlight in each venue’s calendar.
We coordinated the planning, contractors, site build, ticketing, entry systems (not all venues), costings, PR and marketing, day-to-day running, power, medical, parking (not all venues), catering, accommodation for contractors, health and safety compliance, and much more.
Our team built positive working relationships with each venue and continues to work on developing relationships with additional venues to extend this offering to more UK cities.
Result:
The indoor funfair events that now take place each year in Exhibition Centre Liverpool and Harrogate Showground are eagerly awaited, with a huge following on social media. They produce excitement, thrills, activities and memories for thousands of people over the year.
Throughout the build and dismantle days, and from 8am-9pm on all opening days, members of the Indoor Funfairs team remain on site to ensure the events run smoothly and maintain a wonderful atmosphere throughout.
To date the Indoor Funfairs team has:
- Held six events at Exhibition Centre Liverpool, welcoming more than 150,000 customers.
- Donated 1,000 tickets to Everton in the Community Charity.
- Held nine events at Harrogate Showground, welcoming more than 100,000 customers.
- Attracted more than 30,000 followers on Facebook.
- Lined up two more potential venues to host indoor funfairs in 2023 and beyond.
